Hm, Archlinux.... Well, being a Linux n00b, I couldn't have been able to tell what it was, hence why I asked... But, how is it compared to Ubuntu (the only Linux I'm familiar with)
And, does Conky work with Ubuntu, or just Arch?
Arch is i686 and x86-64 optimized, so all the packages are made specifically for those architectures thus will be a bit faster than Ubuntu. Additionally, Arch is a rolling-release distro so, instead of coming out with a new version every 6 months like Ubuntu, users just get a constant stream of updates. Also, Arch tries to be very simplistic and give the user full control -- so it's pretty easy to configure and maintain (just don't expect any fancy GUI's) if you know what you're doing. And Arch doesn't install anything other than core packages by default (not even any graphical servers or anything), which allows for more customization. And the packages are always more up-to-date (without the ability to down-grade), so they're possibly more unstable, but I <3 bleeding-edge (I think Ubuntu only does security updates between releases...so they're sometimes a bit behind), and there are so many more packages availible by default than Ubuntu.
Meh~ my loves for Arch has caused my to babble on about its awesomeness...(there's so much more I could talk about too...I'm such a nerd v_v)
Conky works with Ubuntu (and for that matter...any Linux app will work with any Linux distro): just a quick 'sudo apt-get install conky' and you're done. My config file for conky (if you want to use it or need an example) is
