The theme?
To make a game out of a project you have abandoned/never started in the first place. I'm sure we all have a few of these laying around. Games we never got a chance to make, gave up on, or whatever.
Rules and Guidelines?
- The contest starts now until July 1st.
- I'll need two or three judges to help me. Judges can also submit games, but must be timely in their judging.
- I know I can't mind police you all, but the game can NOT be something you have just come up with or made specifically for this contest. It should be something you've had for years now having never been made.
- The games will be graded on 5 factors: Originality, Gameplay, Story, Aesthetics, Wildcard.
- Originality is based on...the obvious. How creative and original your game is. It doesn't necessarily have to be all custom systems and David Lynch-y but it does have to have something beyond the mundane world of RPG Maker games...and RPG games in general. Unless that's the point of your game, I guess.
- Gameplay is another obvious category. Is your game fun to play? What makes it stand out?
- Story is based on how interesting the world you have created is. Does it make sense? Does the story suffice? Is the story way too much and overly pretentious? Am I getting bored just listening to everyone in your game?
- Aesthetics is how pretty your game looks. Are the maps nice? Are the sprites purty? etc...
- Wildcard is just whatever the reviewer wants. Is your game sub par in all the other categories but there's just a special something that jumps out at the judge? That's where the wildcard category comes in.
- Length of the game doesn't matter. However, make the game end in a logical place if the game is not to be completed. If it's just a demo or the beginning of a game, make it end on a cliff hanger or something.
- Once again, I can't mind police you guys, but please start off fresh. Don't restart a project in where you've already made like half the game. If you want to do a project in which you've already done stuff...just start anew.
- Also, can't control you but whatever, please make the game in whatever maker the project was intended in.
- Prizes will be awarded based on participants. If a lot of people participate, I'll give away a prize or two. If no one participates...I probably won't.
- Invite people to play and have fun!
